Hi all. I'm sorry it's been so long between newsletters. I was actually away and racing in Chicago.
Very important news! Our girls' as a team and Dan Doperalski have qualified for the state meet at Sun Willows in Pasco next weekend. Make sure you wish them luck!
The past two weeks in racing:
KINGCO! - Both teams qualify for districts and we win 3 out of 4 individual races!
On a wet and soggy day at Lake Sammamish State Park we saw lots of awesome individual performances. It was a great way to end the season for most of you. We were extremely proud of the improvement you've made throughout the season.
Our boys varsity team qualified for the district championships running solid races. Alex Jeffers ran a courageous race after missing so much time, and the rest of the Knights pack was very very tough.
Our boys JV squad also ran very well. Jacob Dance had an awesome day winning the JV race and Andrew Coover also placed extremely well. Almost every single boy ran a personal best time. In particular, Josh Glantz contintued his improvement and Micah Mansfield broke through 20 minutes.
Our girls varsity had a somewhat unlucky day as a team with both Lydia Ngai and Natty Plunkett falling due to the slippery conditions. But they still placed third as a team and qualified for districts. Jillian Altizer won the race in a blazing 19:09 and Dana Dixon also ran extremely well - nearly breaking 20 minutes!
On the girls JV side we had another individual champion - Katrina England ran away with the race. Ruby Brallier and Emily Meyer also placed in the top 10. The rest of our girls squad ran in the worst conditions of the day, but still managed to run their fastest times of the year - congratulations!!! In particular, Kelly Toy and Erin Moses had breakthrough days.
NOTE ON KINGCO RESULTS: We now have the results for the varsity girls, varsity boys and JV boys on paper and will post them on the website very soon. The league had some problems with the JV girls results but I hope to get a copy at the league meeting on Nov. 1. I'm VERY sorry for the delay! This is one of the fist times all year I relied on the meet to provide all of our results and it backfired a little. You guys have been very patient.
DISTRICTS! Dan and the girls move on to state!
Thursday was a classic fall XC day at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle.
Our varsity boys placed seventh in the district. While we were sad to see the season end for the team (five teams qualify for state) the guys put in a great effort. For a seaons with some unlucky bouts of injury and illness, they did extremely well. Dan Doperalski ran a GREAT race and a personal best to place 13th and qualify as an individual for the state meet. Dan Hutchins, Neil Baunsgard and Jacob Dance all finished the season with a BANG as well. Full results are at: http://www.watfxc.com/XC/2006%20Results/District/District%202-3A-Results%20Boys.htm
Every varsity girl stayed on her feet on Thursday and as a result they had an awesome day to WIN the district meet!!! Jillian Altizer continued her awesome streak and placed second overall. Lydia reboudned from last week with a solid race. Christine Dollard had a major breakthrough day and almost a 30 second personal best. Dana Dixon, consistent and reliable, was great. Natty Plunkett came back with a vengeance, and Jillian Raftery and Lindsay Brooks ran their best races so far. In winning the meet the girls qualified for STATE!!! http://www.watfxc.com/XC/2006%20Results/District/District%202-3A-Results%20Girls.htm
